3,510 new corona infections after late registrations on Thursday – Coronavirus Vienna

Late registrations caused the corona numbers in Austria to skyrocket.

Several late registrations made the corona numbers soar on Thursday. A total of 3,510 new cases have been reported, but only 1,722 positive cases have been identified in the last 24 hours.

The late reports of coronavirus cases were limited to the federal states of Carinthia and Upper Austria, which reported a total of around 1,800 new infections.

New corona infections by state

The new infections since the last report are distributed among the federal states of Austria as follows:

  • Burgenland: 56
  • Carinthia: 1,073 (including late registrations; 120 since yesterday)
  • Lower Austria: 266
  • Upper Austria: 1,056 (including late registrations; since yesterday 251)
  • Salzburg: 211
  • Steiermark: 182
  • Tirol: 130
  • Vorarlberg: 132
  • Wien: 404

In the intensive care units, however, there was a slight increase by seven people to 361 seriously ill. Over the past seven days, the intensive occupancy rate remained roughly the same, a week ago 373 infected people were in intensive care. During this period, there was a decrease of 268 patients on the normal wards. The 53 other deaths within one day mean a total of 6,921 deaths since the start of the pandemic in Austria and 353 within the past seven days.

So far there have been 389,260 cases and 3,980,936 tests in Austria. 362,931 people have survived an infection so far. Thus, on Thursday 19,408 people were considered active cases.
