The health authorities in Germany reported 6,729 new coronavirus infections to the Robert Koch Institute within one day.
That is around 400 fewer than on Monday a week ago. The number of deaths related to the virus rose 217 to a total of 52,087. Since not all health authorities transmit data on the weekend, the RKI figures are usually lower on Mondays than on other days of the week.
The nationwide seven-day incidence is 111.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. A value below 50 is aimed for.
