Because of the new virus variants – now many more people are supposed to be in quarantine

 The  new Corona variants lead to stricter measures: Many more people will have to stay at home in the future.  The  canton of Bern is one of the first to implement the BAG recommendations.

In view of the new coronavirus variants from Great Britain and South Africa, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) has tightened its quarantine recommendations. According to the BAG, in the event of possible infections with the new variants, not only the direct contact persons should be in the quarantine, but also their contacts.

This recommendation to the cantons has existed since the end of 2020, as confirmed by the BAG research by the “Confederation”. “We are planning to include this recommendation in the next version of the quarantine recommendations to the cantons,” said BAG spokesman Daniel Dauwalder.
