Chelsea newcomer Timo Werner is still in low form.  The  latest example is his missed penalty in the English Cup. In a conversation, the 24-year-old is now self-critical about his record at the top London club.
Football national player Timo Werner has reached the round of 16 in the English Cup with Chelsea.  The  Blues won 3-1 (2-1) against second division Luton Town in the evening. Tammy Abraham (11th / 17th / 74th) scored three times for the superior Londoners. Werner, however, is still in a deep form.

 The  24-year-old failed with a late penalty he picked up on Luton goalkeeper Simon Sluga.

Even before the game, Werner was not satisfied with his record after the first half year at Chelsea. “Last year at the end of the half-series I scored 18 goals, now four. Slightly missed the goal,” said the ex-Leipzig resident in an interview with entrepreneur Carsten Maschmeyer and national team colleague Toni Kroos on the audio app Clubhouse and added: “That’s why I have to missed a lot of chances to score and not played in many games as I would like. ”

But it is also a change from the Bundesliga to the Premier League. “Many say that you have the first year to study in the Premier League,” emphasized Werner, who moved from RB Leipzig to Stamford Bridge in the summer. Werner also sees potential for improvement in interaction with national team colleague Kai Havertz. “At the moment we have to find ourselves before we can find each other.”

 The  Premier League requires more work, especially in the physical area.

With a view to speculation about a replacement from coach Frank Lampard, Werner was cautious. “I don’t know if a new coach is coming. I’m also not entitled to say: ‘He has to go or a new one has to be here’.” It also worked under Lampard. “In the last few games we played rather cautiously. If that changes again, we will win again.” On February 10, Chelsea will face second division FC Barnsley in the Cup.
