Berlin (dpa / bb) – In the fight against the spread of the corona virus, companies and unions are calling for even more employees to move their jobs home. “Wherever possible, companies should give their employees mobile work. Every company should examine where there is still room for improvement on the subject,” says a joint statement by the German Trade Union Federation and the business associations in Berlin and Brandenburg .
Recently, there have been repeated calls for more home office options from politics and unions. Home office is difficult to grasp under labor law. Companies often speak of mobile working as a distinction to teleworking, where they have to set up a permanent workplace for the employee at home.
Most recently, the Association of Berlin Merchants and Industrialists rejected the charge that the economy did not allow its people to work too little from home.
Many companies have had good experiences with mobile work in recent months, according to the business associations and the trade union federation. It is currently an emergency measure, but it will play a bigger role after the Corona crisis than before. Although it could be that colleagues at home are less productive and creative, on the other hand, new digital forms of work could also be beneficial for companies and employees, the statement said.
