Christmas and New Year’s Eve were celebrated differently this year – including more time on the phone and on the Internet. This is the result of an analysis by the telecommunications provider Drei, which, among other things, provides data on voice telephony and data consumption with December 24th / 25th. and 31.12./1.1. compared to the previous year. The result: both at Christmas and New Year’s Eve, voice telephony rose by around a quarter (27 and 23 percent, respectively). Data usage was also significantly higher this year – at Christmas, Austrians used around 30 percent more data, and on New Year’s Eve it was significantly more than a third (35 percent).
