Germany: Rush to test stations on the Bavarian-Czech border – Bavaria

WOMEN INCREASE PRESSURE: Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) must also listen to calls from his own ranks for schools to be opened soon.

The  women’s union in Bavaria is demanding that schools open up quickly – for face-to-face classes for all final grades, but also for alternate classes for all other grades.

The  demand emerges from a position paper of the Women’s Union that was disseminated on Saturday, which provides for a quick return to schools – but subject to strict protection and hygiene concepts and a clear test strategy. “Distance teaching in its current form is not an equivalent substitute for teaching in classrooms,” the paper says.

Söder had last defended the ongoing school closings in Bavaria because of the great concern about the mutated corona virus.

DEMONSTRATIONS: In many places in Bavaria, people have demonstrated against the state measures and restrictions to contain the corona virus – for example with car corsos. Peaceful and orderly in most places. However, three police officers were injured during a demonstration on Friday evening in Lauf an der Pegnitz (district of Nürnberger Land) after there was a tussle between participants and the officers. Also on Friday evening, on the sidelines of a demonstration in Würzburg, two participants were hit by a car and injured. You were in the process of fixing a speaker.

PARTIES: Despite the Corona rules that have been in place for many weeks, some cannot do without partying – the police have put an end to several so-called Corona parties. In addition to reports from the officers, there were also injuries. In the Swabian Weißenhorn (Neu-Ulm district), two people were injured trying to flee from the police. A patrol had previously found a party with 13 participants from different households in an apartment. ©

The  police also intervened in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate, Röfingen (Günzburg district) and Memmingerberg (Unterallgäu district) and stopped illegal celebrations.

The  number of urban and rural districts with more than 200 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week is falling continuously. On Sunday (as of midnight) the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) with the districts of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge, Tirschenreuth, Regen, Passau, Berchtesgadener Land and the city of Coburg still had six districts. Ten days ago there were 30 rural districts and cities with such values.

In principle, the following applies: For municipalities with an incidence value over 200, the 15-kilometer rule applies. After that, their residents are only allowed to go on excursions within a radius of no more than 15 kilometers. It automatically comes into effect for the first time as soon as the RKI reports more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week in urban or rural districts. According to the Ministry of the Interior, this affected 15 districts and eight urban districts (as of 9:00 a.m. on Sunday).

VACCINATIONS: According to the RKI, around 244,000 people in Bavaria have received the first vaccination against the coronavirus, which corresponds to a vaccination rate of 1.9 percent (as of Friday). About 46,800 people received the second vaccination.

AND ELSE: Because of the pandemic, the world-famous Oberammergau Passion Play has already been postponed to 2022. It remains to be seen whether the actors will have long beards by then. Because they are allowed to shave their beards so that the FFP2 masks fit better. Nevertheless, on Ash Wednesday (February 17th), game director Christian Stückl will, following tradition, call on all players to let their hair and beards grow (beard decree).
