The idea came from Joko Winterscheidt, who as host first defended his title twice in the final against Palina Rojinski and Elyas M’Barek. Last Tuesday, the 70-year-old Gottschalk pushed the 42-year-old Winterscheidt from the throne. Winterscheidt is now a candidate for his originally own show. Gottschalk, however, signed a contract with ProSieben.
“ The older ones may still remember my predecessor,” said Thomas Gottschalk according to the announcement. “A young man who was very promising. But as is so often the case today: his career was a relatively short one.” The new episode is titled “Who is stealing the show from Thomas Gottschalk?”. The show series itself keeps its old name and the hashtag “ WSMDS”, as a broadcaster explained when asked.
