Stuttgart – The corona pandemic is making room on the streets. Car traffic in Stuttgart decreased significantly in the past year. This is proven not only by the traffic counts at Neckartor, but also by the global traffic index from the mapping specialist TomTom, which will be published this Wednesday. According to this, the level of congestion in Stuttgart fell to 25 percent in 2020; in 2019 it was 30 percent. This means that a trip in the city last year took an average of 25 percent longer than when traffic was free, for example 25 instead of 20 minutes. Drivers made much faster progress, especially in morning and evening rush hour traffic.
