A drunk driver fled after a self-inflicted accident – a little later the police found him in a tree. The -44-year-old crashed his car into a parked vehicle in Trier on Sunday evening, as the police announced. Probably he was driving too fast. Local residents heard the bang and saw the man then fled on foot towards a river. There the police found him a little later in the branches of a tree – hanging over the water. A breath test on him showed an alcohol level of 2.27 per mille. According to initial findings, the man also does not have a valid driver’s license.

Leek röden: infant dies in house fire – eight other residents saved
In a room fire in the west of Thuringia, an infant was killed.
The -fire broke out on Sunday evening for reasons unknown to date in a multi-generation house in Lauchröden ( Wartburg district), the police said. Rescue workers tried to reanimate the child – but it died on the spot.
The -other eight residents survived the fire. Two of them were seriously injured.
