When will Berlin’s stages come back to life? The culture committee debated the current situation for creative people.

Berlin. It was a proposal from the FDP last September that was due to be voted on Monday at the first meeting of the Committee on Cultural Affairs in 2021. “ The Senate is called upon to show more sense of proportion and proportionality when implementing hygiene and distance regulations for theater operations in order to enable artists to get back into their artistic commitment,” it says. At the time, when the number of infections had dropped significantly after the warm summer months, that might have been entirely justified. In the context of the current pandemic, however, where nocturnal curfews and tougher measures are being discussed, the desire for a quick reopening of the cultural institutions seemed rather daring.
