Too much criticism, too much hatred. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan finally close with Instagram – a year after their sensational retirement from the royal family.

Exactly a year ago, Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39, née Markle) caused an uproar in the British royal family and made the headline of the year when they announced their resignation from their royal obligations. Since then the Sussexes have not stood still. Discussions broke out, especially the question of whether they could keep their “Sussex Royal” brand, which was also the official name of their social media channels.

Now the two are drawing a radical line: They have announced that they will finally turn their backs on social media, both professionally and privately – mainly because of their critics, as “dailymail.co.uk” reports in reference to the “Sunday Times” .

The past year certainly didn’t always go as hoped for Harry and Meghan. Even the Christmas greeting turned out differently than expected. You can see details in the video below.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are leaving social media

The Sussexes had already stopped posting on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts last year. Harry and Meghan had more than 10 million Instagram followers and thus an enormous reach. However, not all of the couple’s activities suggested understanding. Harry and Meghan were downright disillusioned with social media. They earned a lot of hatred for promoting projects with Netflix or Spotify.

Within a few months, the couple reportedly received 5,000 abusive and racist tweets while sharing the Kensington Palace social media account with Prince William, 38, and Duchess Kate, 39, née Middleton. Most recently, Harry was even accused of the cult status of his mother Diana (†36) for themselves, which was also hunted by the media. Because of this “almost insurmountable” amount of hatred, criticism and abuse, the two are said to have decided not to return to social media, according to sources in the Sunday Times.

According to insiders, the two no longer want to use social media for their “Archewell” website. The platform was launched in October last year to promote non-profit partnerships. Harry and Meghan had also announced in this regard that they have no plans to return to their personal social media accounts.

Even though the Sussexes are building a new life in the US, they are still clinging to British traditions. You can see what surprising appearance the two made in November last year in the video below.
