The new Stuttgart 21 rail infrastructure is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2025. This frees the old Rosenstein Bridge over the Neckar. It could find a new use.

The state capital is considering the purchase of the old four-track railway bridge over the Neckar between Rosensteinpark and Bad Cannstatt. After the commissioning of the Stuttgart 21 project, it will no longer be needed for the railroad, because the railroad has built a new steel bridge downstream. This ensures the connection to the new tunnels under the park and to the underground station.
