Versatile & superior: Bassino “particularly proud” – Alpine skiing

Marta Bassino crossed the finish line in 3 of this year’s 4 giant slalom for women – all 3 times the Italian left the entire competition behind. On Saturday the 24-year-old showed her class once again in Kranjska Gora and was unbeatable in the most difficult conditions. After the race, the 24-year-old was smiling all over her face for a number of reasons.

 The  victory in Kranjska Gora came for Bassino, who doesn’t feel very comfortable on the icy ground in Slovenia, anything but expected: “ The  1st place here in Slovenia makes me particularly proud, because I am enormous in front of the selective slope and the demanding conditions Had respect.  The  icy conditions on this demanding slope almost invited people to make mistakes. I drove the battle line from start to finish and found a tight line, especially in the decision-making. I’m all the more pleased that the gap between the competition and me is so great. ”

After her triumphs in Sölden and Courchevel, Bassino impressively demonstrated in Kranjska Gora how versatile she is now. “I took my 3 victories of the season all on very different slopes,” commented the Azzurra. Not an irrelevant detail – especially not for a driver who currently has the best cards in hand in the fight for the giant slalom World Cup as the leader.
