Webasto’s headquarters in Stockdorf: At this location, the coronavirus presumably struck for the first time in Germany.
On January 27, 2020, the world suddenly changed for the Bavarian company Webasto – and thus also for Germany. On this cold winter Monday, the automotive supplier near Munich had the first Corona case in the country. A Webasto employee from China, who was at the headquarters in Gauting-Stockdorf for training, had brought the virus and infected employees. Everything has changed since then. “I never would have thought that the hygiene measures that we put in place in January 2020 would still be necessary in 2021,” said Holger Engelmann, CEO of Webasto, in a written interview with NZZ.
