The Cupra Formentor VZ5 gets a five-cylinder heart from Audi with an output of 390 hp.
The Ober-Formentor should go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The model name as such comes from Cape Formentor on Mallorca.
The Cupra Formentor VZ5 will be quite exclusive as the edition of the vehicle is limited to 7,000 units. Its unit combines direct injection and turbocharging to achieve the peak output of 390 hp between 5,700 and 7,000 rpm, while the maximum torque of 480 Nm is available from 2,250 rpm.
The engine is known and loved by car enthusiasts, but the cooling system has received additional attention from Cupra.
The VZ5 is 10 millimeters lower than the Cupra Formentor VZ with 310 hp.
The adaptive chassis control (DCC) with 15 levels of damping adjustment continuously offers the best setting for each wheel, depending on the driving conditions and the driving mode selected by the driver.
The differences to the Audi RS Q3 are not very big, apart from the 10 hp less power.
The VZ5 gets more carbon and a specific bonnet. Its lines are intended to direct the eye to the black radiator grille with the new color-coordinated frame in Sport Black Matt.
The carbon fiber front splitter on the side diverts the air into the charge air cooler, thereby improving cooling.
The VZ5-specific rear diffuser made of carbon fiber and the diagonal quadruple exhaust pipes with copper decoration characterize the rear view. Finally, the Cupra Formentor VZ5 bears the Cupra lettering in black chrome and a new, exclusive VZ5 logo, also in black chrome.
The design of the VZ5 is intensified with the addition of the latest color, Taiga Gray. A unique color specially designed for this limited edition. In addition to this new exterior color, the Cupra Formentor VZ5 will also be available in Midnight Black, Magnetic Tech Matt and Petrol Blue Matt.
The so-called CUPBucket seats – optionally available in petrol blue or black leather – are located deep in the interior and offer a more ergonomic, sporty seating position.
In addition, the Formentor VZ5 will also be available with an exclusive interior – progressive graphics in Dinamica Black, perforated with a copper-colored background, rounded off by brown nappa leather seats – that match the exclusive exterior color Taiga Gray.
Other highlights in the interior include the Cupra steering wheel, 12-inch infotainment and connectivity solutions. What the Formentor VZ5 will cost has not yet been announced. For comparison: An Audi RS Q3 starts at 64,000 euros, which is why we would guess around 55,000 euros.
