The pilot of Bryant’s helicopter flew through clouds on January 26, 2020 and probably lost his orientation just before the crash, said Robert Sumwalt, chairman of the National Road Safety Agency, on Tuesday. By flying through clouds, the pilot obviously violated guidelines.
The pilot had flown according to visual flight rules and was therefore dependent on sufficiently good visibility. He had let the helicopter soar steeply and almost broken through the cloud cover when the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter abruptly banked and crashed onto the hills below.
The re were no flight data recorders on board; they weren’t mandatory.
The sports star’s accidental death at the age of 41 caused consternation across the country.
