This is the Medion X17882.  The  smart TV is not in stock in the Aldi branches, but is ordered online and then delivered to the customer’s home.  The  LCD TV Medion X17882 has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels in the usual 16: 9 format and offers HDR (High Dynamic Range). You can receive digital satellite TV, cable TV and terrestrial TV via the built-in HD triple tuner.

 The  panel is of course not an OLED in this price range, but an LC display and at 350 candelas per m² it is unfortunately not particularly bright – this is not enough for HDR images in particular. Here it should be at least 600 candela, better still 1000 candela per m². After all, direct LED backlighting is used here, which, compared to the cheaper EDGE LED technology, which only illuminates the panel from the side, illuminates the image more homogeneously and shows contrasts and black values ​​better.

For gamers, the latency and the Hertz number would also be important:  The  response time of the panel is 9.5 ms and the television comes with 60 Hz – so classic average. HDMI is only available in version 2.0, which means that 4K gaming at 120 fps with the PS5 or Xbox Series X falls flat. Because you would need an HDMI 2.1 input. Means: You can play in 4K with a maximum of 60 fps. In addition, the television consumes a lot of electricity, Medion specifies 240 watts. We have found an alternative to the Aldi TV from Samsung for you, which uses around 60 watts less electricity for the same size.

 The  Samsung TU8079 is also equipped with HDMI 2.1 and brings the corresponding advantages.
