A young talent who is already being celebrated as a coming superstar – but ultimately cannot withstand this pressure and experiences a deep fall. With Isak, too, there were some indications that he could not live up to his reputation.
But now at the age of 21 he is suddenly one of the hottest goal scorers in Europe – and could be interesting again for his ex-club Borussia Dortmund!
Isaac with goal record
Last weekend, Isak put together a three-pack in the 4-0 win over Deportivo Alavés. After triumphing in the Basque derby, he has now scored in each of the past six league games. So far, only John Aldridge (1990) and Darko Kovacevic (2002) had succeeded for the traditional club Real Sociedad.
Isak has an outstanding nine goals from the last six games – no other player in Spain’s top league has a better record. To call Isak one of the hottest strikers in Europe right now is not an exaggeration.
Those responsible at Borussia Dortmund should have registered that.
In 2017, BVB transferred 8.6 million euros to AIK Solna for the then 17-year-old. Isak soon celebrated his debuts in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup – but he was never really convincing.
BVB has a buyback option for Alexander Isak
But now the question seems justified: Should the black and yellow bring back what was once the great promise? That would be possible with the buyback option!
To SPORT1BVB, who gave Isak to San Sebastián in the summer of 2019, can bring him back to Dortmund thanks to a buyback clause of less than 30 million euros.
But that’s not all: If another club wants to sign the Swedish striker, BVB has a matching right, so they can catch up with any offer and grab Isak.

Borussia is therefore in an extremely comfortable situation: Borussia would get a young top striker for comparatively little money (Isak’s release clause is set at 70 million euros).
However, even the relatively cheap almost 30 million euros in Corona times are a decent amount of money. An investment that should be carefully considered.
It was not until the beginning of February that BVB reported a loss of 26.3 million euros in the first half of the 2020/21 financial year.
Reselling Isak has a catch
The re is one key catch with this plan.
Like the Spanish newspaper As reported, the negotiated contract with Real Sociedad does not allow BVB to surrender the striker in the same transfer window.
This would pose another problem.
The system of black and yellow does not provide for two center strikers. In Dortmund, Isak would probably only remain in the role of a (noble) backup, especially since super talent Youssoufa Moukoko will continue to have working hours.
Should Isak sit on the bench for a whole season, it would certainly not result in an increase in value.

Isak has to agree to a return
And then there is still the question: Does Isak even want to return to his ex-club?
The As wants to know that Isak also has to agree to a return to BVB – otherwise the option cannot work.
So far, those responsible for the black and yellow have not sought contact in the Basque Country – neither with Real Sociedad nor with Isak himself.
“I just want to get better and better and have fun with what I’m doing. In the end we’ll see where it takes me, but I still have a lot to learn and a lot to improve. I’m only 21 years old”, he recently said about his future.
Haaland exit a chance for Isak?
Is he secretly speculating that BVB will miss out on qualifying for the Champions League?
The n the Haaland personnel could really pick up speed.
BVB basically wants to keep its shooting star and does the math SPORT1-Information firmly with a departure from wing racer Jadon Sancho. But it is also clear: If a mega offer of more than 100 million euros flutters in in the summer, the Dortmunders would start pondering.
That in turn would be an interesting situation. For Borussia Dortmund – and Isak!
