The three-day tests in Bahrain will begin in just 19 days.
The first cars for 2021 were presented – especially the new paint! You can’t look at the cards yet. Not even Alfa-Sauber.
The C41 is the only car that is not presented digitally from the factory, but from the large theater in Warsaw. Without a spectator, of course – fans are informed online here too.
The main Polish sponsor Orlen (mineral oil) has of course asked the three drivers Räikkönen, Giovinazzi and Kubica, along with team boss Vasseur, to come to the capital. You can see here how the Sauber team used to present its new cars on a grand scale:
Alfa? A Marchionne wish
Orlen is definitely worth millions for the Hinwilers.
The Poles certainly pay more than Alfa Romeo.
The Italians are actually only there because Ferrari President Sergio Marchionne, who died in Zurich in July 2018, wanted to see the once great name Alfa Romeo (twice world champions in 1950/51 with Farina and Fangio) in Formula 1 again. At Haas, Marchionne did not get away with the desire to start the US team with the nickname Maserati.
Hardly any movement in 2021
Since the GP revolution will not rise until 2022, the teams were now officially only allowed to choose two parts for a change. Only McLaren was allowed to build a new chassis because they are now driving with Mercedes (previously Renault).
The third place in the World Cup is again the favorite for the team podium.
The nine other teams will hardly move two places up or down either. To illustrate the 2020 World Cup stand:
- Mercedes: 573 points
- Red Bull-Honda: 319
- McLaren-Renault: 202
- Racing Point-Mercedes: 195
- Renault: 181
- Ferrari: 131
- Alpha Tauri-Honda: 107
- Alfa-Sauber: 8
- Haas-Ferrari: 3
- Williams-Mercedes: 0
Schumi in the red lap
As Alfa-Sauber was 99 points behind the World Cup seventh Alpha Tauri (with Monza winner Gasly) last year, the Hinwil team should fight again for World Cup position 8. But this rank could be in danger, as Ferrari (hopefully with a better engine) looks primarily at Haas and of course his “home grown” Mick Schumacher (21). In addition, the Haas team was given its own building in Maranello! Ferrari can move dozens of new employees to Haas because of the budget limit ($ 145 million). And Formula 2 master Schumi is supposed to grow up in a red lap. In an interview with “auto motor und sport”, the Swiss citizen is already quite self-assured: “Maybe a podium will come out one day!” But first he has to hit the Russian “breast grabber” Nikita Mazepin (21, internal nickname “idiot”). In 2020 Grosjean and Magnussen in the Haas-Ferrari were 3: 8 championship points behind Alfa-Sauber – and now?
