A first leak already indicated that Google is planning a new chat widget for the Android operating system. This is by no means usable in the first preview version, but there is the first official confirmation for the new “Conversation” widget. At least the selection menu for this widget is already available in which the user should select “a conversation” for the widget, which is displayed in the widget.
What is interesting is that in the future we will no longer have to rely on chat apps and their widgets for conversations in widgets. Google seems to want to do this, so there should be suitable interfaces for this, or Android simply picks up the content of the notifications. That’s not really clear yet.

The mockups that appeared a few days ago showed at least preliminary drafts of this new widget:

The new widget could generally only be available from Android 12.
