The coach carousel at Borussia Mönchengladbach has been officially turning since Monday. The “foals” confirmed that Marco Rose will make use of his release clause in the summer and switch to BVB – this will make him the most expensive Bundesliga coach in history.
The money that manager Max Eberl receives for the coach, he will probably reinvest in part in order to sign a successor. According to “Bild” information, the focus is on four names: Florian Kohfeldt (Werder) and the master coaches Jesse Marsch (RB Salzburg), Erik ten Hag (Ajax) and Gerardo Seoane (YB Bern).
The latter is on the way to his third championship in a row in Switzerland and will face Bayer Leverkusen with the Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday.
The 42-year-old was already considered a hot candidate for the coaching position at Hertha BSC in 2019 and was also associated with the Gladbach and Wolfsburg players, who, however, opted for Rose and Oliver Glasner.
Like Kohfeldt, Seoane has a contract that runs until 2023, while the working papers of Marsch, Rose’s successor in Salzburg, and ten Hag are dated until 2022. Eberl is said to have contacted the latter in January – at the time, the rumors about Rose’s move to BVB were picking up speed.
What applies to players also applies to coaches: you excel in a smaller league and are bought by a club from a larger league. If you convince there, the next bigger club comes and strikes.

Gladbach is also part of this footballing food chain, which also activated an exit clause at Rose almost two years ago. “Without a clause Marco would not be here,” Eberl told the Rheinische Post a few days ago. In the summer, clauses will again ensure that Rose is presented to BVB and Eberl can buy his next coach out of a contract.
