It is really not easy for Gael Monfils at the moment:

 The  Frenchman has been waiting for a win on the tennis court for almost a year, and now the 34-year-old has to digest a breakup. As Elina Svitolina announced in a joint statement on Instagram, the Ukrainian and Monfils will take a break from the relationship.

“Gael and I have decided to give our relationship a break.

 The  decision was incredibly difficult because we still have love for each other. But: As best friends, we have realized that it is time to take a step back and ourselves to help each other to live happy and fulfilling lives, “says the communication.

 The re will be no further information, said the Ukrainian, who failed in the round of 16 at the Australian Open against the American Jessica Pegula. During her matches, the 26-year-old was still supported by Monfils in Melbourne.

 The  relationship between Svitolina and Monfils had become official at the beginning of 2019, a continuation does not seem to be excluded at least in view of the statement.
