Can I choose the corona vaccine? How do I know which vaccine is intended for me? What happens if I cancel an appointment? Information about vaccinations in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Can I choose the vaccine in Rhineland-Palatinate?

No. In Rhineland-Palatinate it is clear: “ The re is no choice between the vaccines for the vaccinees. An allocation is made based on various criteria such as effectiveness, availability and other parameters.”

This also applies to all other federal states. Only Berlin had initially taken a special route and let the citizens decide for themselves which vaccination center they would like to attend an appointment at – although it was known where which vaccine was used. But Berlin has stopped doing that again.

According to the vaccination ordinance of the Federal Ministry of Health, certain groups currently have the right to a corona vaccination – for example people who are older than 80 years or those who work in medical or nursing facilities. Teachers at primary and special schools as well as daycare workers should meanwhile be vaccinated against the corona virus faster.

However, there is no mention of different types of vaccine or a say in the selection of vaccines. Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has always said that there should be no option for the corona vaccination for the time being.
