Climate protection minister Gewessler wants to clarify about new allegations in Mochovce

New allegations about incorrectly executed drilling – the climate protection ministry has these examined carefully

Vienna (OTS) Current media reports have again made public information about possible safety deficiencies in the construction of the new reactors at the Mochovce nuclear power plant. Among other things, the drilling was not carried out correctly and then, in some cases, forged security certificates were issued. Climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler is concerned about the allegations and has them examined by experts from the climate protection ministry.

“Nuclear power is a high-risk technology and poses great risks to our health and our environment. © The  allegations just published are worrying and should be taken seriously. As before, we will follow up on these new indications of specific deficiencies as quickly as possible with the support of technical experts, ”emphasizes Gewessler.

“If the suspicion is confirmed, I will turn to my Slovakian counterpart again. Our position remains unchanged: As long as there are still open safety issues or justified doubts about nuclear safety, there must be no commissioning under any circumstances, ”Gewessler continued.
