Company sells faceplates, “Sue us!”

 The  Canadian customization company Dbrand has launched its PS5 faceplates (darkplates) and has shown a very self-confident attitude towards a possible lawsuit by Sony.

As Polygon discovered, Dbrand’s replacement faceplates for the Sony Playstation 5 are now available for sale.

 The y’re matte black in color and are expected to cost around $ 50 excluding shipping. On the official website of Dbrand it is completely blatant: “With the release of the Darkplates the unthinkable happened: We took Sony’s monumental achievement in terms of bad design … and fixed it.”

 The  company has apparently already come to terms with the inevitable, because: “We can only assume that our prices are waiting in the mailbox.”

PS5 and Xbox Series X / S sales: On a par with PS4 and Xbox OneDbrand is alluding to Sony’s product policy with regard to replacement faceplates from other companies. Last year Sony had already stopped the distribution of unofficial side parts from another third-party manufacturer and threatened to take legal action.

 The  company then changed the original name of the product (PlateStation5) and finally canceled the entire product range.

Like the original faceplates of the PS5, the side panels of Dbrand have a fine micro-texture consisting of small symbols. But these are only remotely based on the Playstation symbols. You cannot see or feel the familiar PS symbols, but only alienated triangles, squares and circles. On the associated product website, the only subheading is the words “Do it, sue us!”
