Leipzig – After a major corona outbreak in the Leipzig nursing home “Am Auenwald”, 16 residents died there – almost one in four of the total of 70 home residents.
The outbreak began four days after the residents were first vaccinated.
The city confirmed this on Thursday. However, it is not clear whether the people were infected before or after the vaccination appointment and it is still unclear how the virus even got into the home.
Two appointments are necessary for corona vaccinations so that they can develop their full protection.
The first vaccinations of the residents took place on January 14th. Four days later, Corona broke out in the facility, and 46 residents and 21 employees became infected. 16 residents died.
The home was then placed under quarantine, which was lifted on February 10th. All residents are currently tested negative.
