Four positive tests within three weeks – the number of corona cases is increasing at FC Bayern. The accumulation inevitably leads to the question: Will the authorities impose a group quarantine on the FC Bayern Munich team? The club is scheduled to play at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (February 20th, 2021, 3:30 p.m.), and the next Tuesday the first leg of the first leg in the Champions League at Lazio Rome.
Munich authorities: “Investigations are ongoing”
The responsible health department in Munich has not yet come to a conclusion about the imposition of possible measures, as the authority announced on Friday morning at the request of the sports show. “ The investigation continues”, it said literally in a statement.
Investigations mean determining whether the infected have had contact with people who are considered to be Category I contacts. To fall into this category, a person would have to have been in contact with the infected person for more than 15 minutes without a mouth and nose protection.
Exam “regardless of profession, club and league affiliation”
On Thursday, FC Bayern announced that Benjamin Pavard had tested positive. Thomas Müller’s infection became known during the Bavarians’ trip to Qatar for the Club World Cup, the positive test was published by the club on February 11. Leon Goretzka and Javier Martinez’s infections were officially confirmed on January 29th.
Now maybe pictures from the Club World Cup, where Pavard kissed the same cup as other players, will also be interesting. The videos and photos from the changing rooms of jubilee celebrations of numerous clubs often give the impression that distance rules and mask requirements do not have the highest priority. Pavard flew back with his teammates, trained with them and possibly also had contact with medical staff or the functional team.
The authorities must now classify these and other impressions as well as responses from surveys of those affected and determine whether the tough measure of quarantine is justified. “This procedure is used for every infected person, regardless of their profession, club or league membership”, writes the Munich health department.
