Hamburg is now at the top when it comes to vaccination rates in a national comparison. This is probably also due to the fact that AstraZeneca’s corona vaccine is much better received than in other federal states.
More than 82,000 Hamburgers have now received at least one first dose of vaccine. That corresponds to 4.5 percent of the population. Only Thuringia has so far also achieved this quota. According to the social authority, the reason is the rush to the vaccination center on weekends. Even before the official call to the resident doctors on Monday, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians invited the doctors to the vaccination center. Exceptionally, even without an appointment, the doctors were able to get the active ingredient from AstraZeneca at the weekend.
This vaccine is now also given to Hamburg residents from the second vaccination group, because in Germany it is only approved for people under 65 years of age. According to the latest studies from England, even the first injection protects very well against the course of serious illness.
Vaccination offers for other professional groups
In Hamburg, resident doctors, practice staff, ambulance workers as well as police and law enforcement officers are now called on to take corona vaccinations. 
The social authority announced on Monday that they are exposed to an increased risk of infection due to their activities and can now make appointments at the central vaccination center. Appointments should be made by telephone on 116 117, stating the professional activity. It is necessary to prove the activity with an employer certificate.
The right to vaccinate will only be bindingly determined at the vaccination center.
Relatives from obstetrics and the public health service should also receive an offer as soon as possible and people with relevant previous illnesses should be considered.
