© The  Covid cluster in connection with coronavirus cases in a Loosdorf kindergarten continues to grow. As reported, at least 30 kindergarten children and 15 people from the staff have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. On Sunday, the municipality of Melk reported two coronavirus cases in state kindergarten I, on Monday two more cases appeared in a class at Loosdorf elementary school.

According to NÖN information, there is a connection between all cases. This is also confirmed by the district administration of Melk in response to a request from NÖN. According to District Captain Norbert Haselsteiner, more than 100 Covid cases in the Melk district can currently be assigned to the Loosdorf corona cluster. Due to the rapidly increasing cases, the test results are checked for virus mutations. It could be the British virus mutation.

In Loosdorf itself, the kindergarten concerned will be closed and afternoon care will continue. “Our goal is that the cases do not explode any further. We should have survived the worst in Loosdorf. Should there be any increases, we will act as soon as possible,” emphasizes SPÖ Mayor Thomas Vasku.

As of Monday morning, there are currently 184 coronavirus cases in the entire district. More than 520 people are currently under quarantine or have been segregated as suspected cases; here too, the majority of the quarantine notices can be traced back to Loosdorf.
