Wuppertal The Free Voters / WfW call on the members of the Wuppertal Transport Committee to undergo the corona rapid test offered by the city. It had previously been announced that a participant had tested positive for COVID-19.
“We recommend that our members only take part in further face-to-face meetings if the entire possible contact group of the transport committee has presented a negative test result. If this does not happen, we advise our members not to attend face-to-face meetings. In this case we see ourselves prevented from exercising our mandate, ”said Ralf Wegener.
Since many members of the committee have “taken on and continue to do” mandates in other bodies in the city, it is not sufficient if they receive an offer for a rapid test on a voluntary basis, as is now the case: “Especially now that the number of infections is with the British variant increase sharply, the infectivity of which is significantly higher than that of the conventional virus strain, it must be ruled out that other members of the transport committee were infected during the meeting and passed on the virus. “
Without the testing of all persons who took part in the relevant meeting and other meetings, “all members of municipal bodies who come into contact with people who may now also be infected in future meetings will be put at risk”. The administration must ensure “that only demonstrably negative people from this group will take part in further committee meetings in the next two weeks”.
