Diablo II resurrected for PC and consoles this year

While Diablo 4 (here in PC-WELT Hands-On) is still in development and will probably not be released before 2022, there is still good news for fans of hack-and-slash games: Blizzard Entertainment has for this Year the publication of

Diablo II: Resurrected

announced.  The  extensively revised version of Diablo II (from June 2000) will be available for Windows PCs, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch. A PC alpha test version is due to appear on Diablo2.com soon, and you can currently register here to participate.

Diablo II: Resurrected will receive both the main game and the Lord of Destruction expansion.  The  2D sprite-based graphics are completely ported into a 3D world with 4K resolution (2160p), with dynamic lighting and newly designed animations and magic effects.

 The re is also Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound and the 27 minute film sequences contained in the game are completely re-created – “Shot for Shot”, as Blizzard assures you.

Finally, there is also updated support for Battle.net. Cross-platform progress is also planned so that you can keep the progress, no matter which platform you play Diablo II: Resurrected on.

In Diablo II: Resurrected the following seven classes will be playable: Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress and Druid.  The  game supports cooperative gameplay with up to eight players, whereby each player can also take a mercenary with them.

Pre-orderers automatically receive access to the alpha test version. You can choose from Diablo II: Resurrected for 39.99 euros and Diablo Prime Evil Collection for 59.99 euros. In addition to Diablo II: Resurrected, the latter also contains the Diablo III Eternal Collection, which is already available.
