It had become quiet around the ex-president. But next weekend Donald Trump wants to show himself again in public – and speak to loyal Republicans in Florida.
Ex-US President Donald Trump wants to give his first speech since the end of his term in Florida next weekend. Trump will appear on February 28 at the Conference of Conservative Activists and Parliamentarians (CPAC) in Orlando, people around him said on Saturday. Trump will speak about “the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement”, migration and the “catastrophic policies” of his successor Joe Biden.
Trump clearly lost the November 3 presidential election to Democrat Biden. But for weeks he braced himself against being voted out of office with unfounded accusations of fraud, thus plunging the USA into a deep political crisis. His tenure ended on January 20th when Biden was sworn in. Trump now lives in his luxury Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
Attempts at an agreement with the Republicans
The Republican party is split over Trump’s future role and political direction. Media reports that Conservative Senator Lindsey Graham is on a two-day visit to Trump’s golf resort. It is said that he would try to mend the broken relationship with Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader. He had announced that he would not travel to Florida. Trump, in turn, announced that McConnell’s allies would not win.
