FC Schalke 04 have “secret favorites” for major successors

 The  days of coach Christian Gross are not numbered yet, but apparently already limited. After the “kicker” already reported that the bottom of the table is looking for a new trainer, “Bild” now also writes about an upcoming change in the coaching chair. Accordingly, three names are the hottest ones, one is considered a “secret favorite”.

 The  plans for the next season at FC Schalke are apparently in full swing.

 The  worst-case scenario in the form of relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga will probably no longer be prevented, so the miners are already tackling the re-promotion project. This is also suggested by the planned overhaul of the sporting leadership.

Finding a new trainer is particularly important in this context. According to matching media reports, Christian Gross’ Schalke time ends after the 34th matchday at the latest.

 The  company recovery or rebuilding should take over another trainer.

Is there a secret favorite at Schalke?

 The  “Bild” now reports on three names that are traded in Gelsenkirchen. One of them is Paderborn’s Steffen Baumgart.

 The  49-year-old, whose contract in East Westphalia ends in the summer, is the “secret favorite” for the post, writes the paper.

 The  name of ex-trainer Domenico Tedesco is also traded around the miners.

 The  still-Spartak coach is also without a contract as of this summer. According to “Bild”, however, his return would be “not a matter of course”. What this means exactly is not clear.

Dimitrios Grammozis, who has been without a club since summer 2020, is apparently still an option at Schalke. Born in Wuppertal, he was last employed by SV Darmstadt and has already been traded twice with the Royal Blues: before Manuel Baum was hired and Christian Gross became involved.
