The stepdaughter of US Vice President Kamala Harris made her official runway debut. On Thursday Ella ran for the Proenza Schouler label.
Ella Emhoff (21) recently signed a model contract with the renowned agency IMG Models.
Now the Proenza Schouler label has brought the fashion student to New York Fashion Week.
On Thursday she walked the catwalk for the first time.
Ella Emhoff (21) is the stepdaughter of US Vice President Kamala Harris (56). Already on Inauguration Day the artist wowed the world with a chic “Miu Miu” coat. Shortly afterwards, she was signed by the modeling agency IMG Models.
The agency’s portfolio includes superstars such as Gisele Bündchen (40) and Bella (24) and Gigi Hadid (25).
Now the 21-year-old American is making her first steps in the fashion world – and landed straight at New York Fashion Week. It was booked by Proenza Schouler’s fashion masterminds. Like many other labels, they are also presenting their collections in digital format this year.
The reason for this is the ongoing corona pandemic.
“Inspire and empower modern women”
The fashion student showed three different looks on the catwalk: a leather trench coat over a yellow and black sweater, a long, gray coat with loose slacks and an elegant made-to-measure suit that she wore without a shirt.
The Fashion Week video shows how the concrete floor plan of the Parrish Art Museum in New York is transformed into a makeshift catwalk. According to show notes, the collection aims to “support, inspire and empower the modern woman.” Emhoff told the New York Times that she would never have dreamed of starting a modeling career.
In a video interview for NYFW, Emhoff also admitted to having jitters before the first show. “I didn’t sleep much the night before,” she said in an interview with Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. “I mean, it’s my first time running, my first time in a professional environment … it was a very epic first experience with the fashion world.”
