FREQUENTIS installs 70th voice control system for the US Army

Vienna (pta002 / 02.21.2021 / 07: 00) –  The  US Army and Frequentis have successfully installed the 3020X Voice Communication System (VCS) for the Butts Army Airfield in Fort Carson, Colorado. This is the 70th installation for the US Army. ©

 The  system has been installed, tested and commissioned without affecting operations or service continuity.

© The  Frequentis VCS is a drop-in upgrade that was carried out under a multi-year contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Frequentis has been replacing the US Army’s Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch (ETVS) and Small Tower Voice Switch (STVS) systems in air traffic control towers and radar approach control systems throughout the USA since 2015. ©

 The  system offers increased reliability for voice communication and improved efficiency by streamlining work processes in air traffic control.

© The  Frequentis VCS3020X product line has a future-proof design including Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network technology and uses the latest standard for IP-based air-to-ground radio communication, ED-137, and the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles in accordance with the latest requirements.

© The  US Army requires 24/7 communications for its security-critical operations, so upgrades or changes can be challenging. As part of the FAA contract, over 190 systems have been installed to date, offering the FAA partner award-winning voice communication systems as well as complete system production, testing, installation, cutover and maintenance work. In 2017, Frequentis won the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) Industry Award for projects such as supplying the Army’s largest terminal voice communication system to Fort Rucker.
