The construction apprenticeship, which has been redesigned since the previous year, is evidently arousing great interest: the Chamber of Commerce reports an increase of around 25 young professionals in these difficult times of the Corona, where industries are urgently looking for apprentices.
Whether bricklayer, structural draftsman, structural or civil engineering or track construction: the new construction theory has become more digital. Digital surveying, electronic data management, construction site documentation and environmentally friendly disposal are now a top priority in training and this is increasingly being conveyed through learning videos, online training and testing. Apprentices receive tablets with internet access and e-learning programs free of charge.
300 apprentices in the construction industry
In the previous year, this resulted in an increase of around 7 percent in the number of apprentices in the Salzburg construction industry, and there are currently more than 300 young people in total. The fact that in Corona times the construction sites – apart from a few days – never stood still has also contributed to the positive image of the employer. And that noticed the young people, says apprentice warden and deputy state guild master Franz Steger. It is also paying off that the company had its own apprenticeship officer years ago. After completing the construction apprenticeship, master craftsman examinations as foreman, site manager or independent builder are possible.
