The skins swim more and more away from Schalke in the relegation battle. In the 4-0 home draw against Dortmund, pretty much everything went against Christian Gross’ team. In addition, BVB presented itself in the best mood for the Ruhrpott derby.
After goalie Ralf Fährmann had to leave the field injured after half an hour, the mischief began from the point of view of the “miners” before the break:
- 42. Minute: Jadon Sancho takes advantage of a Benjamin Stambouli dropout to make it 1-0.
- 45. Minute: Erling Haaland worth seeing twice: The Norwegian uses a cross from Sancho with a side pull.
Dortmund continued where it left off in the second half. After an hour and a goal from defender Raphaël Guerreiro, it was 3-0.
The 4-0 in the 79th minute was his 17th goal of the season in the Bundesliga.
The air is getting thin for Schalke
Schalke are still 9 points behind the relegation place, with Bielefeld having played one game less. 12 games remain big in order to somehow make the seemingly impossible possible.
Akanji with torn hamstring
At BVB, Marwin Hitz was only one Swiss player. An hour before the game it was announced that Manuel Akanji would have to pass with a hamstring. For him, Emre Can moved into central defense alongside Mats Hummels at short notice. It is to be feared that Akanji will not be available to BVB for several weeks.
