The upcoming Hearthstone expansion Forged in the Barrens brings us new mechanics, spell ranks and magic schools. In the gallery we take a look at the first twelve cards of the expansion.
The story revolves around that zone from World of Warcraft – the Barrens. In this harsh area, new heroes of the Horde fight their way through masses of quilboar and centaurs and become stronger adventurers
It has not yet been determined when Forged in the Barrens will appear. So far there are no release dates for new cards, but a total of twelve are known. As new cards are added we will update this article.
The effect can only occur once per servant, unless you let it return to your hand.
Another innovation from Forged in the Barrens are the magic schools. All new and already known spells belong to one of the following magic schools: Arcane, Demonic, Fire, Frost, Nature, Shadow, Holy. Frostbolt now has the addition “Frost” and the Demon Hunter’s spells are mostly demonic.
The reason for this is that some servants only trigger effects if the spell has been cast with the appropriate magic school.
The higher a rank, the stronger the effect. A spell starts in its normal form at the beginning of the game and automatically gains better effects from five and ten mana crystals.
