Linz – Monday, February 22nd, 2021, 4:49 p.m.
As feared, offensive engine Andreas Gruber tore the anterior left cruciate ligament in the 2-1 away win at Admira and is absent for the Linzers for at least six months.
The 25-year-old summer newcomer scored the 1-0 opening goal for the guests in the ninth minute, but had to be replaced in the 14th minute because he overextended his knee.
The winger had contributed ten goals and eight assists in the season so far.
The diagnosis of cruciate ligament rupture is of course bitter. But I am a fundamentally positive-thinking person: I am now accepting the situation as it is and looking ahead.
The next few weeks and months will be challenging, but I can focus on that leave full support of our team “, it says in a first statement from Gruber.
Coach Dominik Thalhammer says: “This injury hits us hard, we will miss Andreas sorely.
The important thing now is that he can concentrate fully on his recovery. We will support him as a team and we wish him a speedy recovery!”
