Between the two Europa League games against the Young Boys, Bayer Leverkusen can narrowly prevent another defeat in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig meanwhile moves leader Bayern Munich on the skin.
The equalizer to 1-1 in Augsburg fell in the 95th minute, in the last second. Bayer Leverkusen continued its downward trend in the championship, but was just able to avoid another defeat. The works team scored a 1-1 draw at FC Augsburg in the 22nd round with a goal just before the final whistle, for which Ruben Vargas played until the 66th minute. Edmond Tapsoba, offensive player from Burkina Faso, equalized. Florian Niederlechner had already scored after five minutes for Augsburg, who in turn missed their first win after three defeats last. For the fifth in the table Leverkusen, the gap to a place qualifying for participation in the Champions League is now five points.
After the 3: 4 defeat at the Young Boys on Thursday, Leverkusen’s Dutch head coach Peter Bosz switched the team to various positions. However, it is difficult to make out whether Bosz wanted to improve the level with the changes or save strength for the march in the Europa League.
Leipzig is getting on Bavaria
At the top of the table the tension returns thanks to a sovereign 3-0 away win by Leipzig at Hertha Berlin. Julian Nagelsmann’s team lived up to its favorite role in the capital thanks to goals from Marcel Sabitzer (28th), Nordi Mukiele (71st) and Willi Orban (84th) and moved up to two points on leader Bayern Munich. The defending champion lost 1: 2 against Eintracht Frankfurt after a sleepy first half on Saturday.
In the duel between two midfield clubs that ended the round, Hoffenheim left no chance in their own stadium, Werder Bremen, and won 4-0. While Hoffenheim expanded their lead on the relegation zone to eight points thanks to the victory, Werder had to orientate themselves back down. Florian Kohfeldt’s team, which was only able to save itself over the Barrage in the preseason, is five points ahead of table 16. Arminia Bielefeld.
