Mobility researchers consider reaching the 35 incidence to be unrealistic for the time being

With the spread of more contagious coronavirus mutants, the target of 35 in the seven-day incidence is initially unrealistic, according to mobility researcher Kai Nagel. If the current infection protection measures are simply retained, according to the model, there will be a third wave and every type of opening will enlarge it, said the head of the Department of Traffic System Planning and Traffic Telematics at the TU Berlin of the German Press Agency.

His group models the infection process with, among other things, anonymized cell phone data. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the proportion of virus variant B.1.1.7, which was initially discovered in Great Britain before Christmas, had recently increased from a good 6 to 22 percent within two weeks.

Today a working group with the head of the Chancellery Braun and the heads of the state chancelleries is discussing an opening strategy.  The  next meeting of the heads of government from the federal and state levels is planned for March 3rd.
