The drafts are ready, the building land has been found, but the groundbreaking has been delayed: We’ll show you projects that are just waiting to be finally built.
Building a house is a huge project: It takes a good design, appropriate building land, the necessary permits and the financial means. But despite all the hurdles and risks, many dream of being able to build their own house one day.
If you happen to be one of those people who have the necessary ability, but not a feeling for design and architecture, then we have something for you: We are showing four houses (and another exciting project) that are just waiting for it, finally to be built.
The architects have already invested a lot of work – now all that is needed is someone who can finance the construction – or issue the necessary permits.
Mines Park by A6 Architects in Cambridgeshire, England
The house, in which modern materials and traditional construction methods from the 18th century will meet, will once have 1,100 square meters of living space on four floors.
The re is also a pool, a gym and an underground garage. In addition to the main house, two guest houses are to be built, surrounded by a herb garden, a greenhouse and an orchard. Cost: Three million pounds (3.78 million Swiss francs) for the property and the planning.
Villa Wolfspfad by Rainger Görg Architects in Bad Soden
Frankfurt am Main is an important financial center, one of the few cities in Europe and the only city in Germany that allows the construction of high-rise buildings in the city center. Accordingly, the city is also called Mainhattan, based on Manhattan and its skyline.
The house that is waiting for an investor just outside of Frankfurt is not a high-rise.
Architecturally, Villa Wolfspfad is more oriented towards the modern style known from Walter Gropius’ Bauhaus. It is to be built in Bad Soden and is reminiscent of a particularly elegant shoe box. On the ground floor there is an open living room with an atrium with trees.
The re is also separate accommodation for employees and a large wine cellar. Cost: 1.6 million euros (1.74 million francs), without further development.
Starburst House by Whitaker Studio in California
The house consists of containers that meet in the middle to form a large space with several arms in which other rooms are accommodated. According to Whitaker, the building should also be reminiscent of a spaceship.
One of the highlights of this house is the view: It is said to once stand on 36 hectares of land in Joshua Tree National Park in California – so far off the beaten track, but also beautifully lonely. Whitaker would like to start construction in the middle of the year. If you buy it now, you can add various change requests. Cost: $ 3.5 million (2.69 million Swiss francs).
Hawks Nest by Andros Architects in Greece
The floor plan is only available for seriously interested buyers, but there is an overview on the website.
The re will be six bedrooms and the whole house will have a living area of 300 square meters – and a heated outdoor pool. Cost: Price on request, the building permit has already been granted.
House of the Falcon by Santiago Calatrava in Zurich
The Haus zum Falken will be equipped with 1,000 underground bicycle parking spaces.
The current schedule is hoping that construction will start in the second quarter of 2021. Cost: 43 million francs.
