No rapid tests for everyone from March onwards

Dhe opening strategy of the Chancellor has thrown overboard the original plan of Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to offer free rapid tests for everyone from March 1st, for example in pharmacies. Now that such antigen tests are to be used en masse for the possible opening of restaurants or schools, the quantities targeted by Spahn are nowhere near sufficient.

From Spahn’s house it was said on Monday evening that the amended test regulation was ready and could actually come into force. “Our plan for March 1 is ready.” © www.de24.news The  Federal Ministry of Finance under Olaf Scholz (SPD) also received the necessary funding commitment. “But if there is a desire to embed the quick tests in the opening strategy, it will take longer than planned.”

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has meanwhile spoken out in favor of those vaccinated and tested in the future having more freedom and “automatically more opportunities to move around”. To this end, an app should be developed that immediately shows who has been tested and who has been vaccinated. Nobody needs to be vaccinated.

But it is “not fair in the long run” that those who make a contribution to society through vaccination cannot enjoy any advantages; especially if there is evidence that the virus is less likely to be transmitted through vaccination.

Federal Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht (SPD) told the TV channels RTL and ntv: “If we know that the vaccination actually means that you are no longer infectious, then there is no longer any reason to restrict basic rights.” © www.de24.news The  chief executive of the German hotel – and the restaurant association, Ingrid Hartges, told the FAZ: “© www.de24.news The  debate about giving back their freedoms and fundamental rights to vaccinated people is to be welcomed.”
