Number of new infections remains high at 1,838

 The  virus killed 175 people in the past seven days. On average, 1,698 people were infected every day over the past seven days. So far there have been 445,374 positive test results in Austria. As of today, 8,386 people across the country have died from the consequences of the corona virus and 420,509 have recovered.  The  number of current cases was 16,479 on Sunday.  The re were 1,262 Covid patients in hospital treatment (minus 24 compared to the previous day), 257 of them in intensive care units (minus four).

 The  seven-day incidence – the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants during this period – was 133.5 on Sunday.  The  day before it was 126.3.  The  14-day incidence was 241.9.

In the past 24 hours 496 new infections have been reported in Lower Austria, 435 in Vienna, 245 in Upper Austria and 230 in Styria.In the same period there were 127 in Salzburg, 118 in Tyrol, 109 in Carinthia, 49 in Burgenland and 29 in Vorarlberg newly registered infections.
