Over 6,500 dead during construction work for the 2022 World Cup

Breathtaking stadiums, new roads and airports, expensive hotels: there is a lot of construction going on for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. But the living conditions for the guest workers are unworthy.  The  death toll is shockingly high.

The  “Guardian” reports this after calculating various data. Among other things, the Pakistani embassy in Qatar alone recorded 824 deaths from their country during this period.

The  living conditions are unworthy. Again and again there are protests of the workers (more information is available here).

Whether illness from bacterial infections or electric shocks from open cables coming into contact with water, there are several dangers to local people that resulted in the death of many of their former colleagues. That came again and again Accidents on the construction sites in which workers were killed.

The  figures calculated by the “Guardian” are, according to their own information, still too low to reflect reality. Although they contain data from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, data from Kenya or the Philippines are completely missing.
