The corona variant B.1.1.7, which was initially discovered in Great Britain, continues to spread in Germany.
In the last new infections examined, every third one was triggered by this virus mutation. This has been determined by the laboratory association ALM, which analyzes the current infection numbers for the Robert Koch Institute. Most recently, the RKI reported a share of the British virus variant of 22 percent. As it was said today, the rate of positive corona tests has decreased overall in recent weeks. The proportion of the more contagious variant has grown, according to the chairman of the laboratory association.
This morning the RKI announced 3,883 new infections within one day. That’s 27 more than a week ago. The number of deaths associated with the virus rose by 415. The seven-day incidence is reported to be 60.5. Yesterday it was 61.
