Daycare centers and elementary schools are now open in another ten federal states.
Classes are to take place again after two months of closure with various models. This includes, for example, alternating operations or fixed groups. All or at least more children are looked after in the daycare centers. Saxony had reopened its daycare centers and primary schools a week ago. Lower Saxony has been teaching primary school children back to school since January.
Federal Minister of Education Karliczek welcomed the openings. The CDU politician told the German Press Agency that classroom instruction cannot be replaced by anything. Children, especially younger ones, needed each other. She called for all available means to prevent virus transmission.
In the afternoon, the health ministers of the federal states will discuss whether daycare and primary school staff should move forward in the order of the corona vaccinations.
