The German ex-soccer player Christoph Metzelder has to go to court. Among other things, it concerns the possession of child pornography.
The hearing at the Düsseldorf District Court is to begin on April 29th.
The investigators accuse the 40-year-old of having attempted to give a person possession of child pornography in 29 cases. In addition, one case is charged with possession of child and youth pornography. As of September 2019, there are said to have been almost 300 such files on Metzelder’s mobile phone.
The presumption of innocence applies to all parties involved.
According to a court ruling from September 2020, Metzelder is said to have commented on the allegations at the time. As a result, the former professional footballer made a confession in the preliminary investigation into child pornography allegations. Whether it is a partial admission of guilt or whether he has admitted all of the alleged acts is not clear from the decision of the Düsseldorf Administrative Court.
