The sports commission of the Austrian Athletics Association (ÖLV) has nominated seven athletes for the European Indoor Championships from March 4th to 7th in Torun.
The line-up is led by all-around fighter Ivona Dadic, while Verena Preiner will be missing in the pentathlon.
The Upper Austrian has problems with the thigh flexor and does not want to take any risks with regard to her Olympic preparation.
Preparation for the European Indoor Championships
The National Athletics Indoor Championship is usually the highlight of the indoor season. For some athletes this year it was more of a preparation for the European Indoor Championships in Poland.
Austria is also represented in Poland in the 60 m sprints Magdalena Lindner and Markus Fuchs, in the 60 m hurdles sprint Beate Schrott and Karin Strametz, over 400 m Susanne Walli and over 3,000 m Andreas Vojta. Vojta also achieved the limit over 1,500 m, but only tackles twice the distance. Hurdle sprinter Stephanie Bendrat would have also achieved the norm, but is suffering from an injury to the ischial tuberosity.
